September to March is the sweet spot — cool, clear and green after the monsoon, ideal for estate walks and treks. The monsoon (June–August) is dramatic and lush but wet; summers stay milder than the plains but quieter.
Chikmagalur is roughly a five-to-six-hour drive from Bangalore, so it works best as a two-night weekend rather than a day trip. Keep one full day for the estate itself, and a morning free for Mullayanagiri, Baba Budangiri or a nearby waterfall.
